Brief Description of Russia-Ukraine Crisis Part 2

Hello Friends! Welcome back to my blog. We are back with further briefs of the Russia-Ukraine crisis. In the last blog, we talked till day 9 of this crisis. Even till now, it is still ongoing, and there seem no chances of its stopping yet. The following are the briefs from day 10 to till now:

Day 10 of the Crisis

On day 10 of the invasion, people hoping to escape besieged cities in Ukraine were forced back to shelters after plans for a brief truce went away. Three hours after the ceasefire was supposed to begin, at 09:00 (07:00 GMT), Mariupol authorities announced they had postponed a planned mass evacuation because of the continued bombardment.

Day 11 of the Crisis

On day 11 of the invasion, towns to the northwest of the capital Kyiv came under relentless bombardment as Russian forces continued their attempt to break through towards Kyiv. The Ukrainian deputy prime minister said that Russia had been striking civilian targets in Ukraine, including hospitals, nurseries, and schools.

Day 12 of the Crisis

Russian forces had stepped up their shelling of Ukrainian cities in Kyiv, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, and Kharkiv. Kharkiv officials said that Russia damaged the television tower. In Chernihiv, officials said all areas were coming under missile attack. As Russian forces increased their shelling of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appealed to the West to strengthen sanctions.

Day 13 of the Crisis

President Biden banned U.S. imports of Russian oil, and McDonald’s and Coca-Cola suspended operations in Russia. A humanitarian corridor allowed thousands to escape fighting in one Ukrainian city, but many more nationwide remained trapped in miserable conditions. Some civilians were finally able to leave areas under bombardment. A convoy of buses carrying students left the northern city of Sumy, and dozens left Irpin, near the capital Kyiv.

Day 14 of the Crisis

A Russian strike hit a maternity hospital in the besieged southern city of Mariupol. The Kremlin accused the United States of waging “an economic war” against Russia. Ukrainian authorities have said the power supply had cut to the defunct Chernobyl power plant. Zelensky said the international community would be responsible for a mass “humanitarian catastrophe” if it did not agree on a no-fly zone and warned that the country was at the maximum threat level.

Day 15 of the Crisis

A meeting in Turkey between Russia’s foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, and his Ukrainian counterpart, Dmytro Kuleba, ended with little progress appearing to have been made. More than 2.3 million people had fled Ukraine since the start of the Russian invasion two weeks ago, the UN said on Thursday.

Day 16 of the Crisis

Russian forces opened fire on a cancer hospital in the southern city of Mykolaiv. Vice President Kamala Harris said that Americans would have to pay more for gas to punish Russia. Zelensky approved a new law that allows Ukrainians to confiscate Russian assets. He had also signed a law that allowed civilians to use weapons during war.

Day 17 of the Crisis

Amid escalating war between Moscow and Kyiv, Ukrainian President Zelensky expressed his readiness for negotiations with Russia in Jerusalem. Zelensky was encouraging his civilians from time to time. He said they would free their country anyhow, whether it is taking time.

Day 18 of the Crisis

Russian troops have destroyed 3,687 Ukrainian military infrastructure facilities so far. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has threatened possible collaborators and supporters of Russia in Ukraine. Russian forces advanced ever closer to the capital from all sides. Russian attacks also destroyed an airport in Vasylkiv, south of the city.

Day 19 of the Crisis

Air raid hits Kyiv apartments. One person got killed, and 12 others were injured. Zelenskyy warned that NATO could see member states come under Russian attack if they do not impose a no-fly zone over his country. Instagram was inaccessible in Russia on Monday. The move comes after Facebook and Twitter got blocked in early March.
