Women's Day: Gender Equality

There is only one way to come on this earth, which lets us enjoy all the resources and habitats. That is "Mother." But it is a pity that mother doesn't get the respect she deserves. We should respect the person who lets us enjoy this wonderful life. For this purpose, the world celebrates International Women's Day on 8th March annually.

History

The origins of this women's day are from the late 20th century. It originated in New York City as National Woman's Day. Then, after that, it spreads worldwide slowly and becomes an International fest to give respect to women all over the world.

Why is International Women's Day celebrated?

We always celebrated it full of rigor but are we even know the originating reason for its celebration? It marks the political, cultural, and socioeconomic achievements of women. It also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

Who invented International Women's Day?

Many people take it as a feminine cause, but its roots lie in the labor movement. At first, a 20th century Marxist from Germany, Clara Zetkin, organized it in 1911. She is the one who gives this day formal recognition.

Themes of International Women's Day

Every year United Nations has some themes for International Women's Day. These themes include Gender equality, planning for the future, women's rights and peace, etc. This year,2022, has the theme of "Gender equality today for sustainable tomorrow."

Gender equality today for sustainable tomorrow

As we know, even in this era, women are not so secure yet. Women have been facing gender inequality for the past decades, and the situation is the same even now. Many evil traditions like Sati Pratha, Mensuration customs, and many more continue now. However, technology gets advanced now, but the thinking is not that appreciable yet.

For a better future for women and the world, we need to improvise our thinking and secure women's rights. They should get equality with all the people of the world. The evil customs should stop. Government should impose some strict laws to give them gender equality for a sustainable tomorrow.
